Photo of the month competition

Health walkers at the head of a walk around Cold Heseldon in Durham. The path through the woodland is bordered by masses of snowdrops. Photo by Fred Baines.WHI runs a monthly photographic competition with a prize for each month's winner.

We offer anyone involved in health walks the opportunity to send in their digital photos for consideration in this ongoing 'photo of the month' project.

The winning photo each month is displayed for a short period on the homepage and then posted on the website's PHOTO NOTICEBOARD.

Entries for July are now being received and the theme for this month is Out and About. The deadline is 31st July 2009.The winner will receive a WHI rain jacket (M or XL, dark blue) or a WHI fleece hat, gloves and neckwarmer set (dark blue).

To take part, please send:

  • your digital image
  • an explanatory caption
  • a sentence or two about your involvement with health walks - including the name of the local scheme you walk with, if relevant
  • your name, address and telephone number

to whiinfo@naturalengland.org.uk and make the subject line "WHI photo of the month".

Please note
If you submit an entry, the Walking the way to Health Initiative and its sponsors may reproduce, publish or exhibit the image in any form. It is the photographer's responsibility to ensure they have permission from all the models in the photo.

We recommend that all schemes fill in the attached form to record that they have permission from the people in photographs which they take.

We do not need to see a copy of these forms but it is the scheme's responsibility to store and maintain them.
